Stop the Bleed Training

Sentara Hospital has offered TATC members a one-hour “Stop the Bleed” course.  It will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Advent (our usual meeting location) from 5:30 to 6:30 pm just before the next TATC General Membership Meeting on September 10th.

• ·         The instructor, Brenden Lampley, will teach participants how to effectively use tourniquets and blood stopping dressings to control blood lost from major wounds.  He will also address when and when not to use these techniques and the difficulties of managing a patient with a major wound.
• ·         Brenden is the Community Health Educator for Sentara Hospital’s Trauma Services unit.  He is also a former combat medic who served on the front lines in Afghanistan and Iraq.  He brings his civilian and combat experience to the training.
• ·         The course has a limit of ten participants, and we have two spots currently open.  If you are interested in participating, please email your name, email address, and mobile phone number to pastprez@tidewateratc.com. Lee will confirm whether or not you have made the list.
• ·         Due to limited class size, we may not be able to accommodate everyone who is interested.  In that case, we’ll ask Sentara if they can make another offering of the course.
